Mental Health Resources for International Students

Studying abroad is an incredible opportunity, but it can also present unique challenges. Being far from home, adapting to a new culture, and managing academic pressures can impact mental well-being. We want every member of our community to know that support is available.

Understanding the Challenges

International students often face:

  • Homesickness and cultural adjustment
  • Academic pressure and imposter syndrome
  • Financial stress
  • Language barriers in seeking help
  • Isolation, especially during winter months

Available Resources

University Support Services

Every UK university offers free counseling services to students. These are confidential and often available in multiple languages. Don't hesitate to reach out to your university's wellbeing team.

NHS Mental Health Services

As a student, you have access to NHS services. Your GP can refer you to appropriate mental health support, including therapy and counseling.

Community Support

Our Mata Garuda peer support network connects members with trained volunteers who understand the unique challenges of being an Indonesian student abroad.

Breaking the Stigma

Mental health is as important as physical health. Seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness. We encourage open conversations about mental well-being within our community.

Remember: you are not alone. Our community is here to support you through every challenge.
